Something Out of The Ordinary: Shattered Glass Soundwave and Blaster Set

I'm not a Shattered Glass fan really, but I had to get this set. The main reason being, I'm a cassette junkie. Up until the recently released Linkin Park set, I have all the official releases. (other than the Dino Cassettes, I only have the kos of those at the moment, they've been hard to track down originals of lol) So onto the set.  I really like what they did with the box. A mix of old and new, with the outer box flap seeming more modern. The outer box has some great artwork.

The box has a fold up flap to reveal a more G1 looking layout to the front of the box. It it's its own VS set, in this case VSE. This also has more G1-esque boxart foor the two.

Inside, everything is nicely organized in their own slots. All five cassettes have cases as well as character cards, instructions and sticker sheet:

Now onto the figures themselves: Everything is tampoed other than what's on the sticker sheet:

Soundwave's colours are gorgeous, love the blue and white.

Blaster's dark colours are great, really make the figure pop:

Now onto the cassettes, the set comes with five cassettes. Four of them are shattered glass, while Solarbot is non aligned:

If you like cassettes, it's a great set. I'm not a big fan of shattered glass, but I really like the set, from the presentation to the actual colour choices.

  1. I have this set as well. Like you, I'm not a fan of the Shattered Glass stuff, so I feel kind of bad for paying as much as I did for the set when it was released. Unless there's a Shattered Glass Masterpiece figure done in some sort of awesome deco, I don't see me getting another SG figure.

That said, the cassettes were the real draw for me. The deco on Soundwave was pretty good, but I'm not a fan of Blaster's.

    1. The cassettes were the main thing for me too. I'm eventually going to get the Linkin Park set, hopefully I can find a deal on it

  2. Yikes, that Linkin Park set is kind of a disaster. I mean it has both Buzzsaw and Laserbeak - in the SAME DECO. Hopefully you won't have to pay too much for it.
Fun fact - as you may know, SG Ratbat's color scheme is an homage to the 1950s-1960s Batman costume. Some of the other cassettes in this series might be homages as well but I'm not familiar with them.
Also, the packaging tray with all the chrome accessories just makes me salivate XD

    1. Yeah, the colours are great in the set. Too bad they're SG, lol but it is what it is, at least the tapes are all just rubsigns
